Level Up Live 2009 Group Cosplay: Orc Hero
There were more Group Cosplay participants this year compared to the previous Level Up Live events that I’ve attended. One of my favorites was the Ragnarok Online Orc Hero Cosplay. The acting wasn’t really too good but at least it was pretty entertaining. I also loved how much effort, creativity, and innovation the guys had in making their costumes.
The scene starts with two knights flirting with one another.
Then apparently some Assassin Cross comes in and lures the Orc Hero to the unsuspecting party. The Orc Hero literally goes on a rampage and goes ballistic on the party.
The party is engaged in a brutal fight with the Orc Hero.
Eventually thought they manage to take it down and they even get a Orc Hero Helmet! 
Again, good job to this Cosplay Group! There are definitely some things that can still be improved but it was a very good effort.

RWC 2009 Video: Philippines vs USA
These videos were recently posted on the Level Up Youtube channel and I wanted to share it with everyone here. In the following clips you’ll see the highly anticipated match between Team Philippines and Team USA. As most of you know by now, Team USA was made up of mostly Fil-Ams from the guild called JOLOGS in iRO. Team PH was composed of members of Influenza, also known as Coerce in New Chaos server.

-Team PH played a really good game. Very strategic. They used the map to their advantage.

RWC 2009: Team Philippines in the FINALS against Japan! (Updated)
For the first time in gaming history, Team Philippines is now in the finals of the Ragnarok World Championships! Team PH beat USA in a fast-paced and strategic battle. According to Level Up Marketing Director Jake San Diego, the fight was tricky because the map was a bit complicated. However they were able to pull off a win. This sets us up for an epic battle with the winner of the next fight in the opposite bracket. I have a strong feeling we will be up against Team Thailand though and that definitely will be a tough challenge!
Let’s all continue to pray and cheer Team Philippines! This is the closest we’ve ever been to brining home the gold and I’m really excited that this is finally “IT”! LABAN TEAM PILIPINAS!!!!
UPDATE:
This just in. JAPAN pulled off a massive upset, defeating back-to-back champions THAILAND! It looks like the home court advantage gave Japan a good boost. The final stage is now set… it’s TEAM PHILIPPINES VERSUS TEAM JAPAN FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE!!!

RWC 2009 Update: Team Thailand still a PVP Monster
This just in from Level Up Marketing Jake San Diego who’s currently covering the Ragnarok World Championships 2009 tournament in Japan. Back-to-back Champions Team Thailand is still a force to be reckoned with as they literally dominated Team Korea, wiping them out 2-0. Using their trademark fast-paced attack strat, they prove in this battle that they’re still at the top of their game and they want a three-peat!
Next match is Philippines versus USA. Hopefully our team comes out on top! Let’s all root and pray for them.

RWC 2009: Philippines beats Germany
Thank God for mobile internet! Hahaha! My former boss, Level Up Marketing Director Jake San Diego, is updating us on what’s happening in Japan (Ragnarok World Championships 2009) through his BlackBerry phone. I’m happy to let everyone know that Team Philippines was able to beat Team Germany and they will be advancing to the Semi-Finals! On the other hand we have Team USA, who also has Filipino members, beating Team Brazil. This sets us up for a Filipino-Filipino Amercian duel in the Semis!
On the other side of the bracket, Japan just beat team Vietnam. The next match is between last year’s finalists – Thailand and South Korea. This promises to be a blockbuster battle since both teams are known to be insanely good at Ragnarok PVP.

RWC 2009 Update: Team USA has Filipino roots!
I’m currently following the Facebook updates being done by my former boss, Level Up Marketing Director Jake San Diego, about the RWC 2009 Welcoming Party at Japan. One of his most recent posts is a set of pictures with Team USA. He was surprised that the members of Team USA actually said “MAGANDANG GABI” to greet them. After checking the pics out, there’s really no surprise. Why? Because Filipinos are actually party of Team USA! Hahahaha! One was even wearing the infamous 3 stars and a sun shirt! Before this picture was taken, he also had something emblazoned on his ID: PILIPINAS. REPRESENT!!! Hahahaha! Now I’m cheering for Team Philippines, Team USA, and Team Brazil! Woooooooooooo!
Last year, Team Philippines also had some Philippine blood in the team through Lana Anderson. She was such a huge hit back then and she was able to charm most of the crowd with her playful and sweet mannerisms. Of course no one was able to actually make a move since she was with her boyfriend for the entire trip, haha!
Anyway, this just goes to show that even in gaming, Filipinos are a force to be reckoned with. Let’s all cheer and root for Team Philippines in the coming days! Bring home the gold guys!

RWC 2009 Match-ups
I know I’m no longer connected to Level Up but I’m still eagerly following the Ragnarok World Championships 2009. Let’s all pray for the success of Team Philippines so that they can finally bring home the gold this time around. Anyway, my former boss, Jake San Diego, is uploading mobile pictures via Facebook and I’m re-posting them here. He’s uploaded the picture of the match-ups for 2009 and we have a very interesting road ahead of us for the next two days.
The good news is that we don’t have to fight in the first round! Another good development is that we’re not on the same bracket as Ragnarok global powerhouse Thailand. However, we still have some pretty strong competitors like Germany, Taiwan, Brazil, and USA.

Ragnarok 3rd Job Mechanic Skills
kRO Test Server now has the newest Ragnarok Online 3rd Job up and running - the Mechanic. It’s really fascinating how Gravity is slowly making Ragnarok more modern with each patch they apply. With the latest update, the Mechanic has access to mecha-like power suits. Anyway, the new skill list has already been uploaded on Doddler, and I’d like to talk about some of the more interesting ones.
Robot Time!
The Mechanic has a lot of very useful skills that can help in PVE or PVP when he/she is in the Magic Gear (Robot). I’ve listed some of the more notable and really functional ones that I saw. Don’t hesitate to let me know what you think about them as well by leaving a comment.
Neutral Barrier
Description: Creates a strong energy barrier around you, reducing physical and magic damage to those in its radius, but does not reduce long range attacks. Requires the magic gear equipment Barrier Generator equipped and consumes 1 Magic Gear Fuel.
Now this is just pure evil. Having the ability to protect your entire team will make offense during siege a whole lot easier. You’ll be able to withstand the barrage of spells and AOE attacks when trying to penetrate portal pre-cast defense.
Magnetic Field
Description: Creates a strong magnetic field around you, preventing all enemies from moving. The effect doesn’t work if you or the enemy are in hovering status. Maintaining the magnetic field rapidly drains your SP. Requires the magic gear equipment Magnetic Field Generator equipped and consumes 3 Magic Gear Fuel.
This is a pretty funny but deadly skill. Imagine all the times wherein your opponents are trying to run from you and your party? Well, this will solve the problem. Just make sure they’re in range, use this skill, and have your mages blast them away with multiple AOE spells.
Cold Slower
Description: Using the magic gears basic equipment, supercools a target area, causing water element damage and freezing status to those in range. Consumes 1 Liquid Cooling Shell.
Another effective War of Emperium and PVP Skill! Combined with the Frost Joke and other status ailment abilities of other classes, you can easily mess up the formation of the opposing team especially if they’re lacking Unfrozen Armors.
Pile Bunker
Description: An attack striking a target with a large metal spike. When striking a target there is a chance to completely eliminate their defense. Requires the Pile Bunker to be equipped.
Hate those impossibly tough Knights and Crusaders slipping past your defenses because of their insane armor? Well, this skill solves the problem. Pile Bunker literally tears off their defense, making them easily “killable” with melee attacks and skills. If I had this skill way back in 2005-2006, I would have had much more fun with my Blacksmith, hehehe.
The Mechanic still has several damage skills available, in fact they have a kamikaze-like attack wherein they blow up their robot to deal massive AOE damage. I just wanted to highlight the utility skills in this post because they’re really something else. Having a Mechanic on your team, whether it be PVE or PVP will give your side a distinct edge.
Ragnarok 3rd Job Guillotine Cross Sprite and Skills
This is a long overdue post. Gravity released the sprites and skill list for one of the most anticipated Ragnarok Online 3rd Job Classes, the Guillotine Cross. What makes this class really exciting is that it has a very dark, mysterious, and cool feel to it which is natural for Assassin-based job classes. Anyway, I did some initial analysis of the new skills of the Guillotine Cross. It looks like the Guillotine Cross will continue to be a nightmare in PVP. Check out why after the jump.
Some of the most notable skills the Guillotine Cross brings to the table are:
CROSS IMPACT
Description: Description: Strikes a single target rapidly for 7 hits. Range 3 cells.DARK ILLUSION
Description: Rapidly closes the distance to a target and deals damage. Has a low chance to trigger Cross Impact.
These two skills combined can be a major factor in PVP scenarios. One of the problems of melee based classes is their inability to reach their target given all of the snare, stun, and slow abilities. A skill that allows a Guillotine Cross to close in instantly with a chance to trigger one of their most devastating melee attacks is just terrifying - especially if you’re a soft mage or hunter.
NEW POISONS
Paralize: For 300 seconds, decreases attack speed by -10%, evasion -10%, and movement speed by 1/2.
Pyrexia: For 300 seconds, causes incurable blindness and causes the player to see illusions. Sometimes causes 100 damage which can interupt casting of skills.
Disheart: For 300 seconds, drops the effectiveness of recovery on the target by 20%. This effect stacks with critical wounds.
Leech End: For 300 seconds, drains HP every second.
Antidote: Cancels out the effects of a Guillotine Cross poison on a single target.
Venom Bleed: For 15 seconds, reduces max HP by 15%.
Magic Mushroom: For 300 seconds, every 4 seconds you lose 3% of your HP and involuntarially cast a random skill.
Toxin: For 300 seconds, every 3 seconds it causes the damage motion on your character, interrupting any skills. Skills not interrupted do not receive the effects of your weapon or cards.
Oblivion Curse: For 300 seconds causes the target to suffer from amnesia. While in amnesia it blocks natural SP recovery, and cannot be canceled via Lex Divinia or green potion. While in this status you cannot use any skills.
Here’s a very nice addition to the Guillotine Cross class - new poisons! Each poison has a distinct ability which can help in either PVE or PVP scenarios. The Oblivion Curse poison can literally block out any chances of retaliating in PVP since those under it’s effect can’t use their skills.
ROLLING CUTTER
Description: Katar Exclusive Skill. Using the katar strikes in a rotation in a 3×3 area around the player striking all enemies in range. Each rotation increases your rotation counter, which increases the damage of Cross Ripper Slasher. You can’t have more than 10 rotation counters.CROSS RIPPER SLASHER
Description: Consumes the rotation counters accumulated from Rolling Cutter. The spinning blade is shot out dealing strong damage to a target. The damage is increased by the number of counters. After using Cross Ripper Slasher your counters are reset to 0. Range 7 cells.
The two skills listed above is the most powerful combo attack of the Guillotine Cross. Basically you keep on using Rolling Cutter to get 10 rotation counters. Note that Rolling Cutter is AOE and can be a pretty good weapon in portal defenses or in melee rumble fights. After getting the rotation cutters, you can then unleash one devastating Cross Ripper Slasher to one target which deals massive amounts of damage.
Taking all the new skill into account, I’d have to say that the Guillotine Cross will still be a major force on the battlefield. The new skills can literally change the tide of battle in PVP - especially in War of Emperium. They have a good mix of defensive and offensive skills, mostly centered on PVP.
