Get A BMX Helmet
There are bike races near the bike shop in Old Bullyworth Vale. Complete all seven and you get a BMX helmet.

Crash Helmet
Go to the carnival and find the go-kart track then win the first set of races and you will unlock the crash helmet. Wear the crash helmet on the mo-ped so the cops don’t come after you.

Mo-Ped
Go on the side games in the carnival and collect 75 tickets and then go to the little shop. Go all of the way to the end and buy it, and then every time you go to your garage it will be there (the cops will come after you if you don’t have a helmet).

Rubber Band Ball
when you collect all of the rubber bands on the map you will unlock the rubber band ball which is very fast and bounces off walls. HINT: when a prefect is chasing you go in to the school and throw it if it hits him he will be knocked over.

Pumpkin Head
Once you beat Russle, go down to the boiler room until you see a bunch of pumpkins. Destroy all of the pumpkins and you will get a pumpkin head in your wardrobe.

Girls Dorm Without Getting Caught
Once you get all the pictures in your yearbook you should receive a black ninja outfit. By wearing the black ninja outfit, and going into the girls dorm, the girls can see you but the dorm adviser can’t. This also works if you are violating curfew. P.S make sure you don’t hit the girls or then the dorm adviser can see you.

Black Ninja Suit
Do photography 1 and 2 and you will unlock the yearbook. Take a picture of every student in the game and you will unlock the black ninja suit

"Kick Me" Signs
You find kick me signs in lockers in the locker room.

Double Carnival Tickets
To get double carnival tickets collect all of the G & G cards from around Bullworth and you will unlock double carnival tickets.

Pirate Hat
Swim out to the islands. On the second island, swim around it until you find a small beach. Go on to the beach and in the far left corner of the beach there will be a pirate with a eye patch and a wooden leg. Knock him out and you will unlock the pirate hat.

Fire Man’s Hat
Pull the fire alarm 15 times to unlock the fire man’s hat.

Robber Mask
Break into 15 peoples lockers with-out getting caught, you will unlock the Robber mask. If you walk into the girls dorm after-hours you can scare the daylight out of them but be careful once they scream the guard will come downstairs and try to catch you so get out fast.

Unlock Starry Names
To affix stars to your name in a wi-fi battle, just race all the grand prix races (including mirror tracks) and earn at least one star in the ranking. The number of stars earned during your grand prix career will be reflected in your wi-fi standing.

Unlockable: Alternate Ending Screen
You must complete all the classes with gold trophies on all cups, which includes mirror mode.

Hint: Blue Shell Block
First place racers can shoot a bomb backwards just before a blue shell hits to stop it from scoring a hit.

Hint: Burst Start
Hold A just after the two begins to disappear for an advantageous start.

Hint: Shroom Packing Time Trials
Any kart that has a full statistics meter in the items category will have 3 mushrooms in time trials.

Hint - Snaking/Drifting
Snaking will help you win races by a long shot. To snake is basically powerslide. Mastering snaking can be tricky. To powerslide, press R button while turning either way and shifting the D-Pad left and right at a medium speed until your sparks on your Kart turn red. It usually takes only four left/right/left/right/ motions to get a powerslide, depending on your speed. Once you master the speed of how you powerslide, you can start to snake. This will mostly help you get three star ranking on your Grand Prix races. You can also use this method online, which many users do. (Including myself) To snake, powerslide a certain direction. After that, either hop or turn sharply the other way and do another powerslide. Do this for most of the race, and depending on the track, you can win it easily rather than those that do not snake. Hope this helps anyone! I’ve taught this to many friends and now they are really good at Mario Kart DS, and it’s fun to snake!

Hint - DK Pass and Yoshi Circuit
DK Pass … When you see the ice to the right of you when you’re racing, get ready. Near the end of the ice, to the left, there’s a hill with some trees. Climb up the hill with a play that goes moderatley fast over snow and grass and all that (I usually use Dry Bones with his Standard DB), and on the very tip of the hill is an item box. Even if you’re in first place, this item box will give you either 3 mushroom boosts or a star!

Yoshi Circuit … Where the hand of Yoshi is you can see that there is grass leading to a pit of water. Because of that you’ll have to drive around the ‘hand’. Well, if you have Dry Bones Stanard Kart again, you can jump across the gaps. Drive in to the grass, and press the drifting button right when you’re on the edge, and if you’ve done it right you should land on the other side of the track. Unlike the DK Pass cheat, this doesn’t work with most karts. Try to find one that works! You casn also use mushroom boosts with any kart to go through.

Hint: Block Shells
To block red and green shells from scoring a hit on your vehicle, try to hold a banana peel, a red shell, or a green shell of your own behind your go-kart. This will block any shell from hitting you, so you can continue the race unhindered.

Hint: Last Place Item Trick
This is a strange maneuver but worthwhile to try. When you start any given race, allow yourself to fall into last place. Then, grab an item. Because of your last place status, the game will give you an exponentially higher probability of grabbing a great item (like a Star, Bullet Bill, et cetera). Then, work your way past the last place players until you’re in third or fourth place and use your good item to make your way towards first place.

Final Level Playing Tip
The very last level is very hard unless you know a secret. The first couple of hits are easy because the whole plate is still there. But when the sides fall out and form a star, this is what you do. Whenever Bouser runs at you do a side jump right over his head. When the plate starts to tilt, find the running speed that will keep you in the exact same spot.

First Person View
Set your camera mode to "HOLD CAM" then, using the regular camera, look around by pressing C-Up. Now hold R and press A or B. The Lakitu should be very close to Mario. Walk into the Lakitu to change your perspective. You can see your surroundings, but you may see pieces of Mario.

Messed-up Room
After you get all 120 stars, shoot yourself onto the roof where Yoshi is. Then get the winged hat and jump off the roof. Now go back into the cannon and shoot yourself back onto the roof only this time aim for the highest "tower" (in the direct center of the castle). Go to the left side of the wall, facing the castle and before the perpendicular wall, and do a jump-dive into the side of the wall. You should fall through the castle into a "black room" that is a major glitch.

Quick Trip Downtown in Wet-Dry World
You DO NOT need the cannon to get stars 11-5 and 11-6 ("Going Downtown for 8 Red Coins" and "Quick Race Through Downtown!"). To get a shortcut, jump in the painting to Wet-Dry World as high as you can. If you jumped high enough, the water level should be at its peak. Now just swim over to the caged area and jump out; Mario should grab on to the fencing. Just dive in and swim your way downtown!

Secret Aquarium
On course 3 jolly rancher bay go in the door and take a few steps and go to the right. Look up and there will be a dark black square. Go in the square and you will go to the secret aqarium and get 8 red coins.

Penguin Rematch
When you get 120 stars return to Cool Cool Mountain for a rematch with the penguin. If you thought he was big before, you’ll be in for a surprise.

Owl Ride
To get a ride on an owl, go to Whomp’s Fortress (Level 2) and pick "Shoot Into The Wild Blue" or a higher star. Now climb the tree to your left and an owl will fly out. He will now let you ride him. But if you wait too long he’ll tell you to lay off the pasta and drop you.

Short-cut in Tall Tall Mountain
When you start out in Tall Tall Mountain don’t go the usual way, instead go the other way behind you you will find a 1-up and have to keep runing after you get it and immediately afterwards go towards the wall you will be on a upper part of the level.

Shortcut to Star #6 in Cool, Cool Mountain
When you begin the level run past the cottage at the beginning and head to the platform where the snowman’s body is. Near there should be a guy that sorta looks like a flower (He has flower petals on his head) and jump on him. Mario will do his helecopter spin. While Mario is spinning in air, He will decend slowly. Steer him towards the edge of the lowest platform of the area. (I.E. the Platform where the Icicles hang from) DO NOT LAND ON THE PLATFORM!! Instead, decend under the ledge and try to land on the Ice platform where star #6 rests. It’s alot easier than using wall kicks to get it as labeled (Wall Kicks will work)!!

Wet-Dry Wonders
They say that a picture’s worth a thousand words. Apparently, the picture of Wet-Dry World is also worth a thousand valves. You can control the level of water by the height of Mario’s jump. If he jumps into the picture at a higher level, the water level is higher (and visa versa.) You can save lots of mucking about by choosing the right height.

Unlimited Lives in Final Battle
When fighting Bowser for the third time, if you get killed you can keep getting a 1-Up by walking behind the top left pillar.

Top of the World
After obtaining 120 stars and talking to Yoshi, Mario can climb up to the very tip of the steeple on the castle. Acquire wings, climb into the cannon and shoot yourself as high up as you can, aiming at the steeple. Once you get to the lower ring, you can climb up the wall that is on the left back side (northwest from above.) If you get to the exact top of the steeple, you can triple-jump without running and fly incredibly high.

Teleport on Cool, Cool, Mountain
On the level Cool, Cool, Mountain where you start, turn right until you see a broken down bridge. Go to the very end of the bridge and it will teleport you to another broken down bridge right next to the mother penguin. However you can’t take the baby penguin on this secret.

Shortcut to Star #4 on Lethal Lava
Go to Lethal Lava Land and pick Star #4. Find the Grating where Mr. I is waiting, then enter the hole. Wait and you will warp to an island with a Wing Cap. Put it on, then do a triple jump and fly past the log onto the island with Star #4.

Koopa Race Shortcut
When you are racing Koopa the Quick in Bob-omb battle field, you can use a number of tricks to beat him. The first one, after you go up the first bridge, you will see a flower patch on the other side of the fence.
Ignore Koopa and go into the flower patch. You will teleport to the other side of the course. You should go over the stone bridge and you will see 3 boulders rolling in a small area. There is a hill with a red coin onit to the left of the boulders.

Go up the hill and you’ll see Koopa going around the bend. Jump into the first cave on the path with boulders. You will teleport to the second cave. Just go up the mountain the rest of the way. You will have beaten Koopa by at least 25 seconds. This is a trick Koopa doesnt know about.

Unlimited Lives - Japanese Version
For infinite lives in the Japanese version, go to any of the Bowser bosses (the first is easiest). Run around Bowser and collect 1,000 of the coins he drops. From now on when you die you will gain a life instead of losing a life.
Sliding Shortcuts

To improve your time on the Red Sliding level:

Enter the Red Sliding level.
Jump to the left as soon as you exit the tunnel.
With a little practice you can land on the later part of the course, saving you valuable time. Complete the course in under 21 seconds to receive a Star.
This shortcut works in the ice/blue sliding level.

Pass the first two turns.
Do not turn at the third turn.
Let yourself fall slightly to the left.

Invisible Bomb-om
You need to have already have done the Big Bomb-om trick, and after the blast, your hands will still be held out like you’re holding an invinsible Bomb-om. You can walk around and jump & stuff, nothing will happen. But if you throw it, you throw the invisible Bomb-om and that’s it.

Climb Steep Surfaces
In star 1-2, when you start the race, go through the trench and then long jump onto the marble slope. Now keep holding the A button and press the B button repeatedly. You will then jump-kick your way up the slope and end up on a part of the mountain if done correctly. This should save you a lot of time on the race. This technique works elsewhere too.

Easy Star 6 in Wet-Dry World
To get star 6 in Wet-Dry World the easy way, just go to Wet-Dry World and go to town. Once you’re there, go into the cage with the star in it (don’t hit the ! Switch.) Once your cap runs-out, wall-kick off the fence and onto the ledge!

Visit Yoshi
1. Collect all 120 Stars
2. Go to the Castle Gardens
3. The grid near the Fish Pond will open, revealing a cannon
4. Shoot yourself onto the roof of the Castle and Yoshi will be there!
5. It’s a short visit, but he’ll give you 99 lives and a triple-jump move before he leaves!

Belly Flop
To make Mario do a belly flop, do a sideflip but press A and B simultaneously.

Bowser Shortcuts
On the third Bowser, I find a small part of the level very annoying, so I found a way to skip it. On the first "vertical merry-go-round" (the one with the visible life in the middle), duck. When you reach the peak of the revolution, jump. If you timed right, Mario should flip onto a platform above him.
When you get half way up the first part of the metal ramp (the part where you can stand still and not fall before the first flame thrower), turn around and do a long jump. If you did this correctly you will be on the checkered platform with the small firebreathing plant.

Extra Lives on the Ice Stage
To find some extra lives on the Ice stage:

On the first Ice stage, begin your slide.
On the first left turn, head for the row of Coins.
You’ll slide into a tunnel that holds 2 extra lives.

Extra Lives from Moles
You can get 1 extra life on any of the levels with moles. If you jump on 6 Moles there will appear a secret life.

Hat Trick
Go to the desert level in the basement, then choose any level other than #1. Go to the palm tree by the red bomb-omb buddy. Let the bird take your hat, then stand on the closest piller and when the bird flies around the piller, hit him so he drops the hat, but don’t pick it up. Stand under the palm tree until you teleport by the cannon. Then teleport back to the palm tree.
Every time you do this, another hat will fall on top of the one before it. After you do this 50 times, the game will screw-up and freeze.

Kill Bowser in Seconds
This is easy to pull off on Bowser One, but a bit harder on Bowser Two or Three. Run behind him and grab his tail. As soon as Mario picks it up, drop it by pressing B again. Then run in front of Bowser and press B. Mario should’ve punched thin air, but Bowser will actually transport from behind Mario to his tail being in Mario’s mitts! Use this technique to lure him into a bomb.

Run around any wooden post five times to receive five coins.
Extra Lives Outside
When you are outside, and the water is gone, go under the bridge and locate two yellow coins. Do a side jump and then a wall kick to get them. When you get the second coin a 1-up should fall. Run over to it and collect it. Enter the basement or the main castle door, then come out again and recollect your 1-up. Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

Escape the Black Room of Death
For years people thought that the only way to escape the Black Room of Death (the bug where you jump into the middle pillar of the castle) was resetting the game.¿Well, I have found the way to escape it.¿When you are inside the Black Room of Death on the inside view of the castle put yourself against the right side of the room.¿Make sure that you can’t see Mario.¿Now run or jump towards the wall that would be on the side of the door to the outside.¿You should jump through the wall and be free of the Black Room of Death.

Butterfly Punching
Sometimes in the game you will see a bunch of butterflies fly out of a tree or grass. Punch or touch any of them and they will turn into a 1-UP. Also some of the butterflies turn into bombs.

Camera Trick
After you’ve won the game, you can control the camera angle in the scene where Mario is talking to the Princess. To do so, use the analog stick on Controller Two. You can also do this on the Credits screen.

Change Obstacle Speed
To change the obstacle speed on Course 14, try this. For slower obstacles, enter when the minute hand is on 3. To stop them completely, enter when the minute hand is on 12. For the more ambitious, enter when the minute hand is on 6 for a greater challenge, or 9 for the ride of your life!
Unlimited Lives - American Version
When you start a game outside of the castle go to the third tree from the waterfall climb it and get the extra life. Now go into the castle door and comeback out again to get another life, you can keep on doing this forever.

Shortcut In Rainbow Ride
At the very beginning, turn away from the first carpet. You should see a pole. Do a long jump at the pole and climb it. Now, jump so you land on the stone block next to the pole. From there, jump onto the round spinning block and you’ll basically be at the point where the first carpet drops away.

Quick start
When the countdown starts, wait until the "2" begins to disappear, then hold 2 to get a boost at the start of the race.

When the timer to begin the race just starts, hold 1 + 2. As soon as it is about to say "Go", release both buttons and press 2 as you would normally do to start the race. If done correctly, you will get a nice boost that will usually put you in first place in the 50cc and 100cc class. Note: This may require some practice.

Quick recovery from collision
When you fall into an obstacle, press 2 precisely when you land to get a temporary boost.

Quick recovery from POW Block
You must have drifting set to manual for this trick to work. Before the third strike from a POW Block, start to drift so that your kart or bike will be in the air for the third strike. When you land, you should only spin once and maintain about the same speed.

When an opponent uses a POW Block, it will spin you out on the third POW, causing you to lose an item and speed. However, if you perform a wheelie on a bike as soon as your hear the third POW, you will spin and lose your item but maintain your speed. Additionally, if you shake the Wii-mote, it will create a force field and protect you. Also, if you are off the ground (not jumping) from something such as a ramp, you will avoid the POW Block. -From: Greg

Quick recovery on bike after being hit
While on a bike, after you are hit or run into an item, perform a wheelie to increase your speed quickly.

Boost
To get a small boost while racing, get on a long straight road. You also cannot turn while doing this trick. If done correctly, you will see several blue streaks that fly behind you. Keep driving straight, and you will see a blue force field in front of you. You then will get a boost for three to four seconds. Note: This does not always work.

Easy hit
To score an automatic hit on anyone in a race, place a banana or fake item box immediately after you land from a DK Cannon. They will be forced to land on it.

Use same character with more than one player
This glitch works because you are automatically placed on the character you last selected. First, make have player one choose the character desired. Next, deselect the character, and move off it. Have player two select the character. Go back one screen, then enter the character selection screen again. You should now both be on the same character. Then, have both players select the character. Note: This trick also works for three and four players.

Changing Mii driver’s class
Enter the Mii Channel, and change the weight of your Mii. This will cause your Mii driver in the game to change to the corresponding weight class and give you access to the corresponding new vehicles.

Fast time in Coconut Mall
To get the Expert Staff Ghost on the Coconut Mall time trial, use the Wild Wing medium kart. Take a right into a store on the right side after the first escalator, then use a mushroom. You will see a Delfino tree person at the door.

DK Summit shortcut
After you shoot out of the cannon and come up to the turn, go off the jump toppers on the left. This should send you soaring through the curve and give you a good lead.

Hidden items in DS Delfino Square
Hit the crates on the side of the road with either your kart or a shell. A Super Mushroom will sometimes pop out, but very close to the edge.

Koopa Cape shortcut
Once you go over the ramp leading into the fast stream, keep going around, and enter through the little arch with the ramp on the left. This requires something that gives speed, such as a Super Mushroom, Invincibility Star, or Golden Mushroom. Instead of going around the giant red hat, pass through the grass behind it, giving a straightaway path. This will help you win the race and improve your ghost times in Time Trials mode.

Hidden items in Koopa Cape
After making the first jump, you will notice a few Goombas walking in place. Fire a shell at one to reveal either nothing or a Super Mushroom. You can also run into one if it is in the status of a Mega Mushroom, Invincibility Star, or Bullet Bill.

Hidden items in Maple Treeway
There are many leaf piles on the track. Run through one to reveal a Super Mushroom or Banana Peel. Once you get on top of the tree with the caterpillar creatures, an Invincibility Star may be found in one of the bushes on the left side of the treetop, but not on every lap. You may need to veer off to the left after hitting the bush because the star pops out jumping left. This is useful in getting far ahead of the group if in first place or to catch up if near last place.

Hidden items in Mushroom Gorge
There are some Goombas on the track that contain Super Mushrooms or absolutely nothing.

Using Triple Shells as ramming weapon
After you get a Triple Shell item of any color, press 2 so that all three are spinning around you. Before you launch them, you can use them to ram other cars. It does the same damage as if you launched them at an opponent.

Avoiding Spiky Shells
When you are in first place and have a Spiky Shell coming at you, hit the brakes so the racers behind you will get stuck in the blast, allowing you to keep your lead.

Defending against Blue Shells
This trick requires a Mushroom. The Blue Shell goes up and comes down. Before it hits, you will have time to use a Mushroom and avoid the shell. You should boost forward and the Blue Shell should explode behind you.

This trick requires some sort of speeding item, such as a Speed Mushroom. You must be in first place to get a Blue Shell targeted at you. Once the Blue Shell is above your head, use the speeding item just before it descends. It will make a large explosion behind you, but will miss. You can also avoid them by using the following tricks on the indicated courses:

DK Summit: Go through the DK Cannon.
N64: DK’s Jungle Parkway: Go over the jumps over the yellow river.
GCN: DK Mountain: Go through the DK Cannon.
Rainbow Road: Go through the tunnel with the giant stars on each end.

Defending against Red Shells
You can block Red Shells by equipping an item behind you. Once you have an item, hold D-pad Left or D-pad Right. Items that work are Green Shells, Red Shells, and Bananas. Do not hold Fake Item Boxes or Bob-ombs behind you.

Avoiding Red and Green Shells
To avoid a Red or Green Shell, go on a DK Cannon if one is available. The shell will disappear at the entrance. You can also use this trick for clouds. They will disappear above you on the cannons, and you will not be affected by them.

Team drafting boost
This trick requires two or more players. While playing in VS. Team racing, draft by following a friend somewhat closely from behind. Once you get the boost, go around him or her to take the lead in front of them. Have that friend draft behind you. Keep repeating this to quickly finish a race.

Winning online
A win counts as long as points are added to your total score. For example, if you get fifth, or sometimes sixth, place in an online race, it is still considered a win. The same goes for Battle Online. You can be on the losing team, but if you scored enough coins or hits and it adds points to your score, then it can be a win.

Golden Wii Wheel icon
After using the Wii Wheel extensively in all modes, a golden Wii Wheel will appear next to your name when you go online.

Profile name stars
You can add a star next to your profile name on the results screen and the Wi-Fi races by completing all Grand Prix races with a certain rank:

One star profile name: Earn a "One Star" rank in all Grand Prix races.
Two star profile name: Earn a "Two Star" rank in all Grand Prix races.
Three star profile name: Earn a "Three Star" rank in all Grand Prix races.

Rank requirements
The following are requirements to get a "One Star", "Two Star", or "Three Star" rank:

Get a final score of 53 or better.
Lead most of the laps.
Stay in first place for a good period of time.
Do a lot of tricks on ramps.
Avoid having to use Bullet Bills to catch up.
Use lots of techniques such as wheelies, avoiding POW Blocks, etc.
Do not fall off edges too much (one or two times is acceptable). If you get hit by many Spiny Shells and still win, this indicates that you are resistant and will probably have a high rank.
A perfect 60 is required for a "Three Star" rank. A "Two Star" rank ranges from 55 to 60. A "One Star" rank is 53 to 60 with most or all of these requirements.
