ABS CBN Retracts Announcement - Local Twilight will NOT Happen
Well, here’s some good news for all of Twilight fans around the world. ABS-CBN released an official statement denying that they’ve bagged the rights to do the local version of Twilight for television. Apparently, there was a breakdown of communication in their online news division which resulted to wrong information being posted on their site. They’ve already removed the original article and now have an official statement clarifying everything. Read the official statement after the jump.

On December 24, abs-cbnNEWS.com uploaded a story, “ABS-CBN bags rights for local ‘Twilight’ remake”. The source of the story was a report by entertainment writer Edgar Cruz posted on yehey.com.
The duty editor who uploaded the story failed to check with ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp. whether the story was correct and accurate.
ABS-CBN Corp. Communications head Bong Osorio has since denied that the company will do a local remake of the movie, Twilight.

Whew. Now who wants to bet that they’ll come up with something very close to Twilight? Hahaha! It’s actually cheaper that way since you don’t have to pay for the license fees.
ABS-CBN to Produce Local Twilight Television Series
Okay… now this really caught me completely off-guard. I can’t find the words yet to express what I’m really feeling - you know being a huge fan of the Twilight series and all. But what the hell - OMGWTFBBQ!?!?!??! It looks like we will see Twilight localized since ABS-CBN bought the television rights for the highly acclaimed novel series. Rayver Cruz and Shaina Magdayo will play Edward and Bella respectively.
Man oh man they don’t like anything like Edward or Bella. This is really heart-wrenching. Check out the rest of the cast after the jump.
To be directed by Cathy Garcia Molina, the TV adaptation will focus on Edward and Bella’s love story to be treated as drama, romance and fantasy. The unofficial cast includes Valeen Montenegro as Alice Cullen, Gabby Concepcion as Dr. Carlisle Cullen, Luis Manzano as Emmett Cullen, Al Tantay as Charlie Swan, Yayo Aguila as Renee Dwyer, Fred Payawan as Jacob Black, Carlos Agassi as James, Chin Chin Gutierrez as Esme Cullen, Karylle as Rosalie Hale, Joross Gamboa as Jasper Hale, Jessy Mendiola as Jessica Stanley, Empress Schuck as Angela Weber, Brad Murdoch as Laurent, Nikki Bacolod as Victoria and Aaron Villaflor as Mike Newton. Rayver and Shaina were former love team partner but the tandem did not work. It seems their tandem will click in “Twilight.”
So… what do you guys think? I’ll probably try watching one episode - if just out of respect for Twilight. If it bombs, then I will butcher it’s review here in my blog till kingdom come. Lol.
Dragonball: Evolution (Live Movie) New Trailer
I blogged about the first Dragonball Movie Trailer a few months ago and my post got a lot of response from my readers… mostly negative, Lol. That’s actually the sentiment of majority of the Dragonball fans worldwide. People are seriously doubting if 20th Century Fox can make this into something worth watching. They recently released more information about the movie, including new posters and a new “amped up” trailer which shows more action and Goku doing the famous Kamehameha. Watch the newest trailer and judge for yourselves if we have another Hollywood massacre coming our way.
This trailer is probably much better than the first one they released but it still fails to impress me. It’s probably because I really have high expectations for anything related to Dragonball since it has been one of the first anime series that I got hooked on.
According to an article in MMOSITE, Dragonball: Evolution will be a trilogy and it will come out in Japan in March 2009. It will debut in America and most probably the rest of the world in April 2009.

Twilight Movie Review
I watched Twilight last night with my girlfriend Mich and a couple of her friends from ABS-CBN. Like what I said yesterday, I was really excited for this movie but I was also kinda doubtful that they could make the movie better than the book. To some extent, I was right. Nothing beats reading the novel because there are a lot of parts in the book that is really hard to translate on the big screen. My personal review after the jump.
Expectations: Bella and Edward Come to Life!
My main motivation in watching the movie was to see the characters of the book come to life. I know that a lot of people were actually against Robert Pattinson as Edward but I think he actually did a good job. Though some critics called his acting a bit bland - I think those critics are not readers of the book at all. Edward was always dark, mysterious, calm, and cool in the book and I believe that it was replicated on the big screen.
Kristen Stewart as Bella was also believable if I would base it on the book. She was just your normal girl who happened to fall in love with a vampire. I can’t believe though how aggressive she was when she was kissing Edward (hahaha). Talk about a girl who knows what she wants!
As for the rest of the cast, I think they all did a fine job - especially Carslie Cullen. When he came on screen, I think all the girls in the movie house reacted. The crowd actually responded more to him than to Edward!
My Favorite Parts: Bella Meets Edward, Their First Kiss, & the Last Fight
I have 3 favorite moments in the movie. The first was when Bella meets Edward in the Biology Class. Robert Pattinson really captured the moment well here with his acting. In the scene, an electric fan (lol) blows a gust of wind at Bella letting Edward catch her scent which drives him crazy. The second was their kiss, which I already talked about in the previous paragraph. The best part for me though would be the fight against James in the end. The way he stalked Bella, broke her leg, bit her, and how Bella screamed and reacted to the venom was just surreal.
Why the Book was Better
I really believe that the book was better, and I know a lot of people will agree with me on this. The beauty of the book was the fact that the author wrote it in such a way that the highlights were actually what the characters thought to themselves. This is really hard to put on the big screen. There were several parts in the movie where the characters would be silent and just look at each other. If you’ve read the book, you would understand and appreciate this but if not then I don’t think you would.
Over-all the movie was okay, but it didn’t blow me out of my seat. It had it’s faults but for me, someone who has read the book and is a fan of the novel, I can definitely say that I enjoyed it and it was worth the 150 bucks for the movie ticket.

Movie Updates - Transformers 2, Twilight, & Terminator: Salvation
Sony released a set of posters and a trailer for their upcoming Terminator: Salvation movie. I’m not so sure if a lot of you guys here are part of the “Terminator Generation” but to those that are part of it, this movie is about what happens to the war with John Connor in it (played by Christian Bale). While I’m not a big fan of the original Terminator series, I think I’ll end up watching this since I’m really curious as to how this all ends. Here’s the poster pictures. Really catchy if you ask me.
Some information on Twilight the movie and Transformers 2 after the jump!
Transformers 2 is one of the most anticipated sequels. Not much news has been released about this movie but there are dozens if not hundreds of fan-made trailers already on the internet. I found this gem of a video on Youtube. It’s labeled as the movie trailer for Transformers 2, with almost 6,000,000 views. Watch it, and be amazed.
And last but not least, Twilight. I’m going to watch the movie tonight with my girlfriend. Personally I just want to see the book translated on the big screen. I want to see Edward and the rest of the gang moving and talking as opposed to just reading them in the book. Unless the actors are insanely bad, I don’t think I’ll end up disappointed. I’ll write a review when I get back and hopefully post it by tomorrow. Since we’re on the topic, you guys might want to know that the sequel to Twilight, New Moon, is already going to push through. The stars will be getting a major pay raise due to the success of the movie which has been shown in the US since last weekend.

New Star Trek Movie Trailer
Who here is a fan of Star Trek? I never was really a huge fan of the series but I found myself watching several episodes during the KIRK-SPOCK era. I didn’t bother watching all the other new incarnations of Star Trek after that. Anyway, it looks like the old is new these days and they’re coming out with another Star Trek movie using a different cast and much more advanced special effects. JJ Abrams will be the man behind this and I wanted to share with you guys the latest official trailer. Check it out after the jump.
So what do you guys think about this movie? Will it be worth the theatre house movie ticket? Or will this be another Dragonball?

Gundam 00, House, Naruto, & Bleach!
Most, if not all, of my favorite titles released new seasons or have stopped useless filler episodes in the past few weeks. The most notable of course is the second season of my all-time favorite anime - Gundam 00! I wrote about Gundam 00 several months ago and I stand by my earlier claim that it really is one of the best series that I’ve ever watched. The second season happens 4 years after the last episode. Here the characters have all grown up and the plot thickens. More characters are introduced and some famillar faces also resurface. As of this writing there are 5 episodes of Season 2 and not one has disappointed me yet.
Other than Gundam 00, it’s good to note that Naruto Shippuuden and Bleach have broken out of the filler stage. For Bleach, the fight between Ichigo and the Arrancar resume again. After defeating Grimjaw, Ichigo finds himself against a much stronger member of the Espada. For Narutuo Shippuuden, we see the continuation of the battle of the Konoha ninjas against the dreaded members of the Akatsuki. I know that not everyone reads the manga so I won’t spoil it for you guys but let me just say this - the anime is nothing compared to the recent updates in the manga, especially for Naruto! I’ll write more about that in a separate post.
Last, but not least, is my favorite TV Drama series - House. Season 4 has finally started again and I think they have 4 episodes out already. It’s amazing how the writers of House continue to reinvent and twist the plot to the point that it becomes more interesting when it starts to become boring. I’ll write more about House in a separate post as well.

Bleach Movie 2: Diamond Dust Rebellion Favorite Scenes
I recently wrote a review on the second movie of Bleach entitled the Diamond Dust Rebellion. Bleach Movie Diamond Dust Rebellion Top Moment #5: Menos Massacre
Don’t you just love it when those gigantic Menos Grande get pawned by the various skills of the Shinigami? There’s several minutes worth of film in this movie showcasing our favorite characters taking out hordes of Menos Grande. My personal favorite is still Ichigo’s Getsuga cutting through the mobs of Hollows.

In this scene, Yamamoto Genryusai suppresses the destructive energy of the King’s Seal. He literally flexes all of his muscles. Lol. This old man is definitely one of the scariest grandpa’s walking Soul Society.

Two of the hottest girls in Bleach team up to do some Hollow house-cleaning. It’s always nice to see sexy girls dishing out mass destruction.
Bleach Diamond Dust Rebellion Top Moment #2 Ichigo “Emo Punches” Toshiro
This is a bit close to my heart because I’m really an anti-emo person. In this scene, Ichigo knocks Toshiro with a punch after Toshiro keeps on “emo-ing”. It’s a good thing that Toshiro finally gets his common sense back after the punch or else Ichigo should have power bombed him too.
Bleach Diamond Dust Rebellion Top Moment - Kenpachi Goes Berserk
My favorite captain among the Gotei 13 is Kenpachi and this scene proves that he’s definitely one of the most kick-ass warriors in the anime. After getting pummeled by Soujiro, he gets back up and blows up the base of the castle of Soujiro with simple sword slashes. Top that off with an excellent soundtrack and you have the best scene for the movie (in my opinon only mind you).

Bleach Movie 2: Diamond Dust Rebellion
I’ve been waiting for months to watch this and I was finally able to do so last night when I visited my good friend, Paul. I had high expectations for this movie seeing as I never really liked the first Bleach movie. The first one was a little too soft and off-tangent to the over-all story of the anime/manga. The movie was quite long, but it didn’t disappoint. The plot was well-made however I do feel that some of the characters were just “forced” to make an appearance to please the fans of the anime. PLOT SYNOPSIS
The King’s Seal, an ancient artifact rumored to have the power to bend space and time, is stolen by a rogue Shinigami accompanied by two arrancar that have the ability to control fire and lightning. Toshiro Hitsugaya’s team engaged them but they miserably failed as the two arrancar proved to be more than a match against Toshiro’s team. The kid captain recognizes the rogue Shinigami and abandons his duty to Seireitei and pursues his opponent. This causes the Gotei 13 to suspect that Toshiro was involved in the incident and they collectively decide to put the entire squad of Toshiro on probation while the other captains hunt Toshiro down as well as the King’s Seal.
Enter the main character - Ichigo. He finds Toshiro wounded and quickly takes him to his house to help the young captain recover. When he finally wakes up, Toshiro refuses to explain the situation to Ichigo. Toshiro takes off but Ichigo manages to catch up to him and tries to force the captain to explain what’s happening. Before Toshiro can explain, the two arrancar attack, pummeling Ichigo relentlessly. Ichigo manages to survive and even fends off the two arrancar but he falls unconscious himself and Toshiro takes the opportunity to flee the scene.
At this point, the identity of the rogue Shinigami is revealed. His name is Soujiro Kusaka, and apparently he has a duplicate of Hitsugaya’s zanpaktou, Hyonrinmaru. Soujiro engages Shunsui Kyoraku and even manages to severely injure the Gotei Captain. The Gotei 13 suspect that Kyoraku was injured by Toshiro and makes his capture top priority. Toshiro eventually catches up to Soujiro and here we finally see the connection between the two. Apparently Toshiro and Soujiro were classmates and good friends that eventually managed to manifest the same sword - Hyorinmaru. They were forced to fight one another in a duel to the death to find out who should be the rightful owner of the blade and Sojuiro lost. Soujiro finds himself in Hueco Mundo but he’s able to reconstruct his soul and body using the power of the King’s Seal.
Soujiro teleports himself and Toshiro to Soul Society using the King’s Seal. The Gotei 13 immediately surrounds them but before he could be captured, Soujiro breaks the King’s Seal, unleashing it’s destructive power. Since Soujiro hasn’t mastered his blade yet, he’s not able to fully control the power of the artifact and this threatens to literally blow up Soul Society. Soujiro transforms into a gigantic ice dragon with the ability to summon hollows.
Toshiro, together with Ichigo and the other members of the Gotei 13, engage Soujiro in one epic battle that eventually leads to Toshiro facing off with Soujiro in a duel to the death. Toshiro wins, cleared of all charges, and the King’s Seal is reconstructed. Talk about one happy ending? LOL.
Movie Review
Over-all the movie was good. The pace was very fast and there were rarely any dull moments except for the start. I loved how they were able to feature all of the major characters even though it was just for a few minutes. More than anything though, the animation and the sound track was really superb! I’d definitely buy the OST of this particular movie if I had the cash to spare. One complaint though… when will Ichigo learn a new technique? All I keep seeing are his Getsuga Tenshos! It’s getting really boring seeing him use the same thing over and over again!

Michael Caine Confirms Johnny Depp as Riddler
There have been a lot of rumors going around the internet lately about Johnny Depp and his involvement with the next Batman movie. The Dark Knight did so well at the box office that it would be stupid not to make another sequel - and the producers really owe a lot to the late Heath Ledger who put up a spectacular and legendary performance as Joker (I’m sorry Iron Man, I really prefer TDK). Anyway, the major question after TDK (The Dark Knight) was what’s next? Who can fill in the shoes for the Joker? Well apparently the Johnny Depp rumors are serious. Michael Caine, who played Alfred in TDK, recently said in an interview that the producers are really considering putting Johnny Depp in as the Riddler. Here’s Caine’s quote taken from Slash Film:
“I was with [a Warner Bros.] executive and I said, ‘Are we going to make [a sequel to The Dark Knight]?’ They said yeah. I said, ‘How the hell are we going to top Heath? And he says ‘I’ll tell you how you top Heath — Johnny Depp as The Riddler and Philip Seymour Hoffman as The Penguin.’ I said, ‘Shit, they’ve done it again!’” [Laughs]
Awww man! If this is true then the next Batman actually has a chance of beating the records set by the Dark Knight! What do you guys think about this? Johnny Depp as the Riddler and Philip Seymour Hoffman as Penguin?
Personally I’m really psyched up at the possibility of seeing Depp as the Riddler. He’s one of my favorite actors in Hollywood due to his stunning performances for Pirates and the Demon Barber thing. His acting is really classy and very cerebral - something that fits the Riddler very well. I just hope Johnny Depp doesn’t die in the filming process like Heath.
As for Philip Seymour Hoffman, I’m not all too excited with this development but then again I never thought that I would appreciate Two Face in TDK. Hoffman is one of the top actors in Hollywood so it will be interesting to see how he can take the character of Penguin to a whole new level - farther than what Danny De Vito did in the second Batman movie.
