team usa rwc 2009 I’m currently following the Facebook updates being done by my former boss, Level Up Marketing Director Jake San Diego, about the RWC 2009 Welcoming Party at Japan. One of his most recent posts is a set of pictures with Team USA. He was surprised that the members of Team USA actually said “MAGANDANG GABI” to greet them. After checking the pics out, there’s really no surprise. Why? Because Filipinos are actually party of Team USA! Hahahaha! One was even wearing the infamous 3 stars and a sun shirt! Before this picture was taken, he also had something emblazoned on his ID: PILIPINAS. REPRESENT!!! Hahahaha! Now I’m cheering for Team Philippines, Team USA, and Team Brazil! Woooooooooooo!

Last year, Team Philippines also had some Philippine blood in the team through Lana Anderson. She was such a huge hit back then and she was able to charm most of the crowd with her playful and sweet mannerisms. Of course no one was able to actually make a move since she was with her boyfriend for the entire trip, haha!

Anyway, this just goes to show that even in gaming, Filipinos are a force to be reckoned with. Let’s all cheer and root for Team Philippines in the coming days! Bring home the gold guys! :)

Here’s a complete picture of Team USA. They don’t really look American to me, haha!

I know I’m no longer connected to Level Up but I’m still eagerly following the Ragnarok World Championships 2009. Let’s all pray for the success of Team Philippines so that they can finally bring home the gold this time around. Anyway, my former boss, Jake San Diego, is uploading mobile pictures via Facebook and I’m re-posting them here. He’s uploaded the picture of the match-ups for 2009 and we have a very interesting road ahead of us for the next two days.

The good news is that we don’t have to fight in the first round! Another good development is that we’re not on the same bracket as Ragnarok global powerhouse Thailand. However, we still have some pretty strong competitors like Germany, Taiwan, Brazil, and USA.

Naruto Shippuuden 133: Death of Jiraiya

naruto shippuuden 133 pains Naruto Shippuuden 133 is one of the most emotionally charged episodes of the series that I’ve seen in a looooong while. In this ep, the battle between Jiraiya and Pain finally comes to an explosive end. I’ve read this part already in the manga but it’s so different watching it on screen. Not only was the animation flawless, the musical scoring of the episode really emphasized the drama and the action.

The episode starts of with Jiraiya confronting Pain. He recognizes one of his former students, Yaihko. Jiraiya starts to has doubts though if the earlier opponent he had with the Rinnengan was actually Nagato. Jiraiya manages to snag one of the bodies of Pain and drags him into a barrier where he’s able to finish him off with a Rasengan, sending the body to an acidic pool. Before the body dies though it manages to deal a damaging blow to Jiraiya, narrowly missing a fatal mark. As the body lies motionless, Jiraiya confirms that this body wasn’t the real Nagato and in fact was someone that he fought earlier in his ninja career.

Jiraiya instructs one of the elder frogs to bring the body and whatever information he’s uncovered so far back to Tsunade. He has an idea on the true identity of Pain already but he has to resurface again to confirm in. During his reflections, Jiraiya remembers the prophecy of the Elder Frog telling him that he would one day have to make a big decision that would change the Ninja world and usher in the destiny of another ninja. Mustering whatever strength he has left, the legendary Sanin gets up and goes back to the battlefield.

naruto shippuuden 133 pain Jiraiya attempts to mount a comeback but it’s futile. As the other bodies of Pain converge, he finally confirms his initial theory. These bodies were all opponents that he’s faced before! However, before he’s able to escape, one of the bodies brutally attacks him, crushing his throat and preventing him from speaking. The other bodies of Pain then jump up and joins in on the attack, impaling Jiraiya with multiple iron spears, pinning him to the ground. This is one of the saddest parts of the episode as we see someone so familiar slowly dying.

Jiraiya finds strength again and manages to get up slowly. He realizes that he can’t just die now without letting the others know what he’s uncovered. If he doesn’t get the message to Tsunade, Pain will destroy Konoha. Drawing power from his memories of the 4th Hokage and Naruto, Jiraiya wills himself to life and burns a message to the back of the last Elder Frog.

Pain then comes in and finishes the job, finally putting an end to the life of Jiraiya. As the great Frog Sage drifts and sinks to the bottom of the ocean, he smiles as he knows that his death wouldn’t be in vain. He entrusts the next chapter and what needs to be done to his pupil – Naruto.

Quel’Delar: The Sister Blade

October 30, 2009 by admin · Comment

Epic Goodness!Blizzard has released back ground info on the Quel’Delar sword. This is an epic weapon that requires the players to find the pieces to reforge the blade. Here is the story of the famous Blade posted by Blizzard;

In ages past the great Dragon Aspects worked alongside the night elves to forge powerful prismatic blades that could be used to thwart any evil that came into the world. They would become known as the blades of Quel’Serrar. One of these blades, which had become lost in time, was recently unearthed again by brave heroes of Azeroth. Now rediscovered, Quel’Serrar is revered once more as a mighty tool of raw power.

Its sister blade, however, has not been seen for many years…

The sword known as Quel’Delar was held by the group of kaldorei who would eventully become the high elves, and it was handed down from generation to generation. Most recently Quel’Delar was wielded by the valiant high elven warrior Thalorien Dawnseeker. Thalorien fought tirelessly in the Troll Wars to defend his beloved home of Silvermoon, the Sunwell, and all of Quel’Thalas. When the Scourge swept through the lands during the Third War, Thalorien was among the last lines of defense for the Sunwell. Despite the sword’s power, he was ultimately slain by the overwhelming might of Arthas and his legendary runeblade, Frostmourne. Quel’Delar was thought to be lost forever.

Following the destruction of their homeland, the determined blood elves began to regroup and rebuild. It was during this time that the battle-hardened warrior Lana’thel stumbled upon Quel’Delar, and soon afterward the greatest opportunity to use the blade presented itself: Prince Kael’thas Sunstrider raised an army and combined forces with Illidan Stormrage, who led them north to Icecrown on a mission to destroy the Lich King. Lana’thel readily followed her prince with one thought in mind — revenge against the Scourge — but only tragedy awaited her.

In the icy hills of Northrend, Arthas ultimately defeated Illidan and Kael’thas, and the expedition’s few survivors were scattered across the frozen wastes. One by one the Lich King sought out those who had challenged him, and Lana’thel found herself cornered. Using Quel’Delar, she struck at him with all her might… but Frostmourne’s evil powers overwhelmed her. Through his blade, the Lich King chose Lana’thel to serve him in undeath as queen of the San’layn, a group responsible for overseeing the Scourge’s operations across Azeroth.

Queen Lana’thel eagerly carried out her new duties, but every time she looked at her blade, maddening anger would swell within her as she remembered her former life. She could not afford such distractions, and with a scream that echoed throughout Icecrown, she shattered Quel’Delar and flung the fractured pieces as far as she could.

Now…

The champions of the Alliance and the Horde who confront the Lich King’s armies have but a slim chance of finding the pieces of this fabled blade. If they succeed, the heroes can embark on an epic adventure to re-forge Quel’Delar. They will require the strongest materials and a source of great power to make this shattered blade into the fearsome weapon it once was. Several classes can use Quel’Delar, and the sword can fit several different play styles. For any class that is unable to wield it, however, the Sunreaver blood elves and the Silver Covenant high elves will gladly take this relic of their history in exchange for a usable weapon.

The search begins soon…

Bleach Manga 380: Ichigo finally goes home

The Bleach Manga arcs have been brutal in the past few weeks. In the real world, we’re already seeing major injuries and casualties both on the Espada and Shinigami teams. Even one of the Vizards appears to be down for good since she was literally sliced in half by Gin. As the Shinigami and Vizard forces struggle against Aizen and his lieutenants, Ichigo is bogged down in Hueco Mundo by the most powerful Arrancar in existence, Espada 0 – Yammy.

Before Ichigo is beaten to a pulp by Yammy, he’s saved by two shinigami captains, Byakuya and Zaraki. Mayuri then enters the scene and reveals that he’s finally found a way to send Ichigo home. He initially refuses but he’s literally put in his place by Byakuya. I love this scene so much:

bleach 380 byakuya

Boom. Poor Ichigo, haha!

Anyway, another interesting turn of events is how the writer was able to bring the story of Bleach full circle with the next few lines of Byakuya. He reminds Ichigo of his original duty as a substitute Shinigami – to protect Karakura town. As soon as this sinks in, Ichigo finally heads back to the real world.

Can’t wait for Bleach Manga 381!

Battle NetHear ye Hear Ye, for all you WOW players out there. The time has come to convert your wow account into a Battle.net account. On November 11, 2009 if you do not have a Battle.net account you will not be able to log into WOW. At least we get a pet out of it. Here is the announcement from Blizzard;

A few months ago, we unveiled the Battle.net account, our new way for players to log in to World of Warcraft and future Blizzard games, sign up for upcoming beta tests, shop the online Blizzard Store, and more with just one username and password. This was just the first step in the rollout of the brand-new Battle.net; in the future, players will be able to use Battle.net to participate in cross-realm chat in World of Warcraft, create real-life friends lists, communicate across different games, and a whole more.

In preparation for the launch of these new features, on November 11, 2009, all current World of Warcraft players will be required to merge their World of Warcraft accounts with a Battle.net account in order to log in to the game. As our way to say “thanks” for taking a moment to go through the process, existing World of Warcraft accounts that upgrade to Battle.net (including those that have already switched over) will receive a brand-new penguin in-game pet — after you’ve merged, he’ll be waiting for you in your in-game mailbox the next time you log in.

 Starting on November 11, all World of Warcraft players will need to log in to the game using a Battle.net username and password, and anyone who wishes to create a new World of Warcraft account will need to start with a Battle.net account.

Creating a Battle.net account is simple and free. To merge your existing account with a Battle.net account, go here. For more info, check out the Battle.net site or read the FAQ.

I wasn’t really too excited about watching the upcoming Marvel flick, Thor. However they just gave me one very good reason to go out and buy a ticket once it goes out. One of my all-time favorite actors, Anthony Hopkins, is currently under negotiations to be cast as the god of Thunder, Odin! Wooohoooooo!

Thor is officially Hannibal’s son. Hahaha!
